Being admitted to UC Berkeley is a significant accomplishment and you should be very proud. During this exciting period of intellectual and personal growth, we are here to help you with your questions about majors, the College, the University, enrichment opportunities, and more.
We would love to meet you in person during Rausser College’s special events at Cal Day on Saturday, April 18, 2026 Our undergraduate advisors, current students, and faculty members will be available to answer your questions throughout the day.
Starting at 9:00 AM in California Memorial Stadium, newly admitted students and families will be greeted by the Chancellor’s Morning Welcome and you will hear more about what to expect during Cal Day. After the Chancellor’s Welcome, please make your way to the Pimentel Hall, Room 1, for our Dean’s Welcome & Student Experience Panel. The rest of Rausser College’s Cal Day events will take place on the Genetics and Plant Biology Lawn, located on the North-West side of campus. You can also explore the Information Zones around campus throughout the day to learn more about UC Berkeley’s various programs and departments.

10:30 - 11:30 AM: Dean’s Welcome & Student Experience Panel (Pimentel Hall, Room 1)Dean David Ackerly welcomes you to the Rausser College of Natural Resources. Alongside him will be current RCNR students engaged in conversation about what it’s like to be a student in our college. Our wide array of majors will be represented; from biological to social science majors, Rausser College has it all! We will be posting student bios before the panel. Check back here in the coming weeks for more!
10:45 - 11:30 AM: Rausser College Tour #1 (Meet outside of Pimentel Hall, along the eastern side)
Join our fantastic peer advisors on a guided tour of the college, where you can learn about its rich history, and about some of the current happenings in Rausser College! You’ll have an opportunity to hear about the college straight from the students that help to make it such an inviting and supportive space. Another tour will be offered at 2:15pm.
12 - 2 PM: RCNR Major Advisor Meet & Greet (Genetics and Plant Biology Building Lawn)
Meet the advisor that supports your RCNR major during this time. You’ll have the chance to ask questions, and meet the Peer Advising Leaders (PALs) from each major. Our PALs will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the RCNR student experience. Come find out why Rausser College advising is so highly rated by its students!
12 - 2 PM: Rausser College Student Organization Showcase (Genetics and Plant Biology Building Lawn)
Explore your interests as you learn about our student organizations; from logging sports to entomology, Rausser College students’ interests are varied and many. Our student organizations are excited to meet you all during this event!
12 - 2 PM: Faculty & Lab Research Demonstrations (Genetics and Plant Biology Building Lawn)
Learn about our incredible faculty, their research, and their accomplishments during this event. You’ll get to see experiments up close, and ask questions about the cutting-edge research the college’s faculty and researchers are constantly engaging in.
1 - 2 PM: Rausser College Ice Cream Social (Genetics and Plant Biology Building Lawn)
Come by to mingle with other RCNR admits, check out tables of various Rausser College Student Orgs, and cool off with some ice cream! Non-dairy vegan options will also be available.
2:15 - 3 PM: Faculty Lecture - Forest Ecology with Miranda Redmond, PhD (Mulford Hall, Room 159)
Learn about the unique forest ecosystems of California from Miranda Redmond, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. Dr. Redmond’s lab, the Forest and Woodland Ecology Lab, focuses on understanding the effects of climate and disturbances on forest dynamics so that, as a society, we can make more informed management decisions. Her research covers a breadth of topics in forest science and climate change.
2:15 - 3 PM: Rausser College Tour #2 (Mulford Hall Courtyard, by the Building’s East Entrance)
Join our fantastic peer advisors on a guided tour of the college, where you can learn about its rich history, and about some of the current happenings in Rausser College! You’ll have an opportunity to hear about the college straight from the students that help to make it such an inviting and supportive space. This tour is the same as the 10:45 AM tour.
3 - 3:45 PM: Campus Tree Tour with the Rausser College Dean (Mulford Hall Courtyard, by the Building’s East Entrance)
Join Dean David Ackerly to learn about the college’s history, its diverse array of trees and other plants. With 8 years experience as the college’s dean, and expertise in global change biology and fire ecology, Dean Ackerly’s knowledge is sure to make this tour nothing short of amazing!
